TITLE:  Cafeteria Worker, Part-Time (5.5 hrs.)

Reports To: Cafeteria Manager, Food Service Director, and Principal

 

Job Goal: Assist with serving the students/staff attractive and nutritious meals in an efficient and pleasant manner while adhering to state and federal guidelines under the direction and guidance of *The Nutrition Group.

 

NOTE:  *Floyd County Public Schools partners/contracts with The Nutrition Group to provide K-12 school meal service with an assigned on-site Food Service Director. The Nutrition Group provides extensive food service and facilities management, products, programs and support to ensure the overall success of the school division’s school nutrition program.

 

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalency required;

  2. Evidence of strong direction-following skills;

  3. Excellent communication and organization skills;

  4. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure;

  5. Interest in working around children;

  6. Willingness to learn new tasks;

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Assist with preparing and serving food while demonstrating proper portion control and observing and practicing all safety techniques and guidelines of HACCP & Health Department.

  2. Maintain a sanitary area that includes but is not limited to: cookware, dishes, utensils, service areas, prep areas, work tables, cookers and equipment.

  3. Maintain proper sanitation throughout the kitchen by practicing proper personal hygiene as required by the Department of Health.

  4. Keep serving lines and other kitchen areas attractive and sanitized during all serving periods and ensure these areas are cleaned at the end of shift.

  5. Follow all guidelines and instructions from the Cafeteria Manager and Food Service Director relating to safety measures, sanitation practices, personal standards, work techniques and methods of performing duties.

  6. Assist customers (students and staff) in a kind and friendly manner.

  7. Demonstrate knowledge of meal components and assist customers in building a reimbursable meal.

  8. Keep all paperwork accurate and neat; Handle accounts and monies when necessary by utilizing computers and point of sales systems.

  9. Reports to work at the designated time and remains until dismissed by the manager.

  10. Adhere to all policies and procedures developed by the school district.

  11. Maintain pleasant working relations with fellow employees by showing consideration for others, patience, respect, self-control and other desirable character traits.

  12. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as expected of all staff.

  13. Attend training and staff meetings as required.

  14. Perform all other duties as assigned by Cafeteria Manager, Food Service Director, school Principal and/or the school superintendent.
